Well well…here is my selection for this month’s weekender after a long long time.
Well…as always, I put up five videos / tracks that I have been playing alot in a month. This list may or may not be influenced by my kids. Reason being, we always have an hour every other day where hubby and I put on music and just have a jam session.
So here goes…
WizKid – Ojuelegba
AliKiba – Mwana
Liquideep – Still
Jess Glynne – Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself
Kendrick Lamar – Alright (This is the best track and video for me this year ❤️)
Photo from D’Banj MySpace
modern popular aka POP music is going global.
The Cocomaster – D’Banj signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label and putting Africa on the map
Thanks to @ophiona and @JWKimathi on my Twitter timeline, I managed to catch a clip of D’Banj being interviewed by MTV’s Sway.
Check out the clip here
I like his swagga…..!
Credit to D’Banj for all the hard work. Making me proud to be AFRICAN.
(Notice the amount of times he mentions Kenya and that his name in is ‘Sonko’…..*chuffed*!)
So….what tunes have got me pumping this month…….!
Let us see……
K.I.G. – Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (never have you heard a nursery rhyme be so funky)
Adele – Someone Like You (the lyrics are just so powerful. Just love this track.)
Rihanna – What’s My Name? (I am not a Ri-Ri fan, but there is something about this song that I can’t get enough of.)
Dela – Ulivyo (can we get more music like this from the motherland – PLEASE!)
Uche – My God is Good (Everything Double Double) I really love this gospel track, esp. the swahili bit.
Finally, Dj Edu gets nominated outside Kenya, if not in Kenya.
Quick, click this link and cast your vote for the African Radio Dj of the Year – Dj Edu and also for the African Vocalist of the Year – Wahu.
Looking at the current results, we may bag two awards on the night. So do the needful and support the only two Kenyans to be nominated in the African Music Awards which will be held on the 27th Dec 2008 in the UK at the Troxy Theater.
Now that MTV is in Africa, they are now hosting the Mtv Africa Music Awards – MAMA 2008 in Abuja, Naijaland.
Africans Kenyans in the Diaspora can vote and here is how:
Click on the MTV Base Africa website here and vote. It’s that simple.
In the meantime, here is a clip of Juacali’s gig in London.
