September ’15 Weekender

Well well…here is my selection for this month’s weekender after a long long time.

Well…as always, I put up five videos / tracks that I have been playing alot in a month. This list may or may not be influenced by my kids. Reason being, we always have an hour every other day where hubby and I put on music and just have a jam session.

So here goes…

WizKid – Ojuelegba

AliKiba – Mwana

Liquideep – Still

Jess Glynne – Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself

Kendrick Lamar – Alright (This is the best track and video for me this year ❤️)

Feb. ’12 Weekender

Well….February already has come and gone. With this month’s selection of music I have laughed and cried…….

So, here goes

Dj Cleo – Facebook This one made me laugh.

The Bullitts – Supercool If this one doesn’t make you laugh, then I don’t know what will. “Stop filming me! Its Rosario Dawson….keep filming!” This has got to be the funniest video I have seen in ages. And the track is not so bad.

YOme – Oh My (Audio Only) This reminds me of the era of 90’s ‘Jazzy’ Hip Hop. Loved it from the moment I heard it.

Madtraxx – Ita Waiter The video is just creative. Made me laugh…..then it made me sad as this is how many people are anyway when they go out.

Last, but not least…..

February saw the world of music lose another great STAR/DIVA/TALENT – Whitney Houston. Such a great loss….she will be missed. R.I.P. Whitney.

This has got to be one of my favourites songs by her…..

Whitney Houston – I Learn From The Best

And as far as tributes go……this one did it for me. Chic has mad talent……

Sept./Oct. ’11 Weekender – An Autumn Special

Since I missed to do a Weekender end of September, thought I combine it with October to make it an Autumn Special.

Just because winter is around the corner does not mean you shouldn’t get up and dance. Afterall, it will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Since this is a two month special, I will share 10 videos/tracks that I have come to like during this time. So here goes, a mixture of all genres:

Qqu – Alive (something different from Kenya)

LMFAO – Sexy and I Know It (these guys just crack me up with their videos. For a change its dudes being sexy in a video. Bangin’ beat too)

Kelly Rowland feat. Lil’ Wayne – Motivation (this track is just……*panting*)

Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera – Moves Like Jagger (BRILLIANT video and homage to one of the greatest rockers ever Mick Jagger…..also watch till the end)

Sean Paul feat. Alexis Jordan – Got 2 Love U

Ice Prince feat. Brymo – Oleku

Cabo Snoop – Windeck (Angola’s dance craze sweeping Africa)

Fredde le Grand – So Much Love (Love it!)

Pharoahe Monch – Simon Says (Hip Hop classic right here)

Digable Planets – Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)       (Jazz meets Hip Hop…….a CLASSIC. Loved this group….shame they didn’t last)

AM OUT!!!

August ’11 Weekender

The Notting Hill Carnival season is here again. I was so sure that it would be cancelled following the riots that marred London earlier this month. In my opinion, I am glad it wasn’t cancelled as a sign of community spirit.

So this month’s weekender will be carnival themed.

WCK – Met Veye (Oldie, but goodie)

Patra – Queen of the Pack

Beenie Man – Let’s Go

Kes The Band – Wotless

Bob Marley – Iron Lion Zion

Simply Red – Ghetto Girl (I have loved this track for eons.)

Jamesy P – Nookie

Bonus track

Soca Carnival Medley (to get you in the carnival mood – ENJOY!)

Check out this album on iTunes for more Notting Hill Carnival tunes.
