Kaz in Session

Location: Startford Theater Royal Bar

Time: 7-10pm

Day: Saturday

Kaz made a mad dash for England to be at Stratford Theater Royal for IFEA2008 (International Festival for Emerging Artists).

Kaz went on stage and did her thing and I have to say, the girl is talented. She can definately sing and has stage presence. Having just met the band on the day of her arrival, she went ahead and did her set like they have been a band for several years.

Singing mostly songs by Papa Wemba, Alicia Keys and some jazz tracks, Kaz wowed the audience with her voice and interaction with them.

I have to hand it down to her though, she is one of the few artists from the motherland making something out of her music. Something Kenyans need to do to tap the international scene.

I would definately recommend a session with Kaz.

I went to the event not expecting much and I came out appreciating Kenyan talent from unexpected sources.

p.s. More pics to follow here and to the source of this info, thanks for the heads-up. I had fun.

How It Went Down

Location: Local eatery

Time: Last orders aka 10pmish

Mood: Somber

My pal, her daughter and mum and my mum sat down for dinner just before last orders. Mr Mocha! and my pal’s fiance were yet to arrive.

Several phone calls later, they say they are on their way……but we hear noise in the background like they are in a pub. Anyway, we went ahead and took their food order as they were clearly not going to make it before last orders for meals.

Fast forward to meal reaching our table and the lads still haven’t arrived. Their food is getting cold and my pal and I were getting kidogo worried and annoyed. Kwani where were they? We tried calling again and this time they decided to lenga our phone calls.

My mum and my pal’s mum are kidogo not impressed, but luckily, the jamaaz arrive apologising for being late. Dinner went on as planned and we had a merry old time.

After our meal, Mr Mocha! excuses himself to go to the gents.

Upon his return, he starts fidgeting and I ask him to sit down quite a number of times. Out of nowhere he says he has something to say……and goes on this long speech about my mum, her journey back to Nai, etc. Shortly…………….I hear “….and there is one more thing.” and Mr Mocha! goes down on one knee. To be honest, from here it was all a blur……all I remember that I kept on saying was “Are you serious?” “Kwa serious!” repeatedly. A read box being pitishwad by my pal’s fiance and like they say……the rest is history in the making.

The Ring

This is the ring I got for my engagement and I am so happy to share this with you. Unfortunately, I have to go and have it refitted as it did not fit on the day.

Well there you have it………! I hope it was worth the wait!

Plans za Weekend?

Last weekend I went to watch the sensational show Afrika! Afrika! at the O2 in London.

It was off the hinges. From the dudes who do their thing on poles, to the dude who spun nine basins….if you have a chance and are in London, get the tickets and go watch this show. Its running until 31st of March (extended to this date).

This chic was the star of the show for me…… I was shifting and wincing as I watched her perform. She has definately got talent.

I have qualms with the organisers though…..PLEASE PUT IT AROUND THE VENUE AND WEBSITE THAT PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE ACTUAL SHOW IS NOT ALLOWED. Being flashed with a red laser beam by the ushers as a sign for you to stop taking pictures is not on. If it was announced at the start of the show…..well, for late comers, how are they supposed to know? Managed to sneak a few though!

Inside the Auditorium

Picture Gallery

Also, the limited sitting areas should not be obstructed. You have to see everything to appreciate the show. I pity the people who bought tickets for e.g. Block E-Row 1 Seat 25-26…….you won’t see nada unless you are there for the music.

Otherwise, the show is worth the FULL VIEW ticket prices. If you decide to go…..don’t get the limited view tickets. The view is indeed limited (see above pic – the column on the right of the pic). Spoils the whole vibe and pleasure of the show.

To sum it up: A fantabulous show!!! One you cannot afford to miss!

Moving on, this weekend I am going Paintballing and Focus on Imaging (not on the same day). A girl has to keep herself busy.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, be safe!
